Late Night Food Places?

edited November 2007 in General
Lately my eating schedule has been so crazy, I've found myself hungry at odd times. However, when I get a hunger going at, say, midnight, there's really only McDonalds (and various McD clones) and Tim Hortons open. I'm not a big fan of burger-based fast food, and Timmy's gets old after a while.

Anyone know of any other places in the coquitlam/port moody/burquitlam area that are open into the morning? Preferably with a drive-thru, but it's not a requirement.

I never left my house when I lived in burquitlam at night. This one night I was walking home from the skytrain after I had been drinking downtown, out of nowhere in the middle of the street two cars full of guys drag racing one with the car door open stop in the middle of the street and get out and start all fighting eahother. Doesn't answer your question but I digress

There's a Subway near Coquitlam centre that's open 24hrs. Also, I think Vietnamese restaurants are usually opened late hours, if you're craving some form of asian food that isn't fast food. For something quick, it's pretty much down to burgers or pizza.

There's Subway, Denny's, and then there's always the prepackaged stuff at like 7-11 and Mac's. Heh.

Or you could also keep some snacks at your house and then you dont deal with the fatty burger and fries and doughnut thing....since you said that you were sick of that.

I get cravings at nite too sometimes cuz of my schedule, but I just simply dont eat at that time cuz my body really doesnt need it. So if you can make yourself last without, its prolly better for you. But I agree that sometimes its unbearable, so maybe try to have something healthy like a sandwich or fruit or something (as someone mentioned, Subway).

It's better for your body to be eating constantly all day, nothing big, just small snacks every few hours. That way you keep your stomach constantly working. Plus eating less than two hours before you go to bed is also a bad idea if you don't want to be fat.

But yes, keep snacks at your own place. I have to agree with that statement.

When you eat has nothing to do with the fat content of the food. A sandwitch is a sandwich whether you eat it at 2pm or 2am, doesn't matter. It's not made into fat which could be "burned" for hours anyway - if anything, the sandwich you eat at 2pm is the one that will "sit in there" while you sleep. Eating late at night is unhealthy because people eat crap when they eat at night, not because eating at night in intrinsically less healthy than eating during the day. Food is food.

    Spinach dip

Wrong @ Morro. Because your stomach doesn't digest food the same way when you go to sleep as when you are awake. When you are sleeping it turns it into fat as opposed to energy when you are awake.

I think you're right, JayDub. When I eat a lot of food and go to sleep soon after, I wake up feeling all bloated. I don't even end up eating breakfast until lunch time because I feel all tired and lazy. I think the best midnight snack, especially when you're up late studying, is a salad or a light sandwich because it's mostly fluid and it digests quickly

All the McD's I know close at 12am!!!
There are no 24 hour ones by my house.

My eating patterns are REALLY weird...
    Sometimes I eat a lot
    Sometimes I don't eat much
It really depends on my mood, or if there's anything in the house.

I suggest getting granola bars (I can get addicted to those yogurt coated ones!)

But PHO places are usualy 24 hrs :)
