Laptop Repair

My roomie has a Compaq Evo N620c laptop. What's happened is that the power connector in the laptop has come loose, so that jiggling the power cord at all makes the laptop go to battery, which of course runs it down.

He's at a loss as to where to get it fixed, but I thought perhaps someone who reads this forum and knows how to properly take apart and fix these kinds of things would want to do the job. If you want to do this, just PM me and I'll put you in touch with him.

    Laptops are tough, the cases are almost f'ing impossible to crack without breaking it. I once tried to remove a laptop HD when I switch computers, it took days.

    Your best bet would probably be to just take it in to a local computer shop. Drop it off with them.

    use some duct tape if it works by any means... <-- cheap way
    or else if under warranty.. get replacement
    or else not under warranty.. try ebay try to buy a new power cable..

    It shouldn't be a hard job. Do you know how to crack about the laptop's casing, and do you have a soldering gun?

    If yes to both, crack it open and solder it back tight.
