How many VERY intelligent people do you know with crap GPA/test scores?

edited October 2007 in General
I just want to hear of people's general impressions of those whose test scores/GPA deviate from what they seem capable of (and the number of them)

This might seem strange but I've met a few incompetent people at university with GPAs higher than what I'd expect or what they deserve.

As for your main question, what's a good average? To some people it's 3.0, to others 3.8, to others 2.5. I knew a girl who I thought should be getting high grades and she wasn't. She wasn't doing as well as I expected because of her study habits (not because she wasn't capable of learning the material). I'm sure there are more examples

I'm another example, I guess, but then again my grades aren't bad and I always want more and I am never satisfied with what I have.

lol I so agree with the first comment Insatiable. Its like they manage to find the easiest marking profs repeatedly, or are just great at playing dumb around you

    i didn't know i was your friend :p

but yeah i like to think that i'm smart, and i've been told by a lot of friends.

i put near no effort in my school work still i get a gpa just above 2.0.

now i'm putting in effort and i'm starting out with my midterms sitting at 85% plus for 2 of my subjects, don't know about my other two scores yet

I knew a guy who's good at materials/organic chemistry, but he just does terribly on exams so his GPA isn't indicative of his skill.

Usually, in 3rd/4th year your GPA will improve greatly. However, it's the opposite for me. Must be the slacking off!

Heh, my GPA is really low, and I am considered genius by many... ahh, shameless vanity.
If your study habits are bad (like mine used to be), then good intelligence will just keep you not kicked out of the school - however, everyone at university, I think has to put in a lot of work to get the mark... intelligent people will just have an easier time of it.
