Citizens Bank is offering $30 to you when you open an Ultimate Savings account (current rate 3.8%).

The details are here:
https://www.citizensbank.ca/Personal/ItPaysToShare/?id=homepageAimage&lid=homepageAimage

It only works if you open the account from a referral email you get from an existing member so if anyone wants a referral let me know by PMing me or emailing kaadatia@myway.com

I have been banking with them for over 2 years and I am very happy with them.

Some of the benefits for the Ultimate account are:
1) NO FEES;
2) You can pay bills (free);
3) Up to 4 free ATM transactions a month;
4) High interest rate (3.8%) with no MINIMUM.

Cheers,
K@R!M

    I never trust people who have 1 post and use it to tell me how totally awesome something is. Marketing plant!

    damn right!!! I couldn't agree with you more.

    He probably used this site for advertising and stuff, which is not the purpose of this site.

    i suspected this off the bat especially since the wording seems to be pulled straight from an online ad, that's why i asked some questions about it.

    RBC sucks big time. I use to be with them until I was dinged here and there for stupid little things. So, I moved it to TD then PCF now. =) So far so good!! I think the only thing I could complain about with PCF is the fact that they hold ATM deposits for at least 5 days. However, after 6 months, the holding period could be reduced. Direct deposits go in right away though, so if you have that.. then it shouldn't affect you too much.

    You may unlimited debits but you have to remember, the other companies charge you to use their machines.

    Depends where. Most retail places don't charge you when you use debit as payment. As for ATMs, any CIBC and PC ATMs would be no charge.

    I thought that applied to any major bank in Canada. When you use a bank machine that isn't owned by your actual bank (CIBC customer using RBC, for example), you need to pay a service fee.

    I also bank with PC Financial, and I couldn't be happier. Don't know if it's been mentioned, but free cheques as well, I ordered like, 5 books of cheques so I never run out. All free. Being able to use CIBC and PCF ATMs for free is great too, because there's always a CIBC in malls.

    About the holding period for cheques, I think a lot of younger customers have that, because they run a credit evaluation and all that jazz. I get access to my money immediately after I deposit the cheque, up to $5000, at a machine. The holding sucks, so hopefully they take it away soon.

    But yeah, as it was mentioned before, if you have no need to do your banking at an actual bank, ie. talk to a teller, then PC is probably your best bet. That's how they save all their money, actually, by not opening branches. I've never in my life had a need to speak to a teller about my banking, so works out just fine and dandy. Internet banking is the best thing since sliced bread.
