Do you find cornerstone useful?

What are your thoughts on the Cornerstone building at SFU? I like how they put the waterfall and the huge steps to sit on, but they are really only used to hang out on in the summers. The coffee shop is awesome too, but the rest of the building seems kind of redundant, like no one really goes there. Seems like a big waste of money to me, what do you guys think?

    I think the cornerstone makes SFU nicer looking therefore it improves SFU's image. I've used the stores at the cornerstone a few times when I went to school there.

    It is quite a useful place for numerous reasons:
    -You mentioned the coffee shop as one of them;
    -It is aesthetically pleasing;
    -It is a cool place to hang out;
    -It gives the campus a better feel (compared to that dilapidated AQ look);
    -Some of the venues there are worth checking out (the donair place has tasty platters albeit slightly on the expensive side).

    Overall, the whole point of it is to build a community at SFU much like UniverCity. It seems to be working because it was fairly dead when it was first built.

    I've been a few times. The video rental place has been somewhat handy at times :) and I particularly like the donair place - their chicken donairs are superb and they don't skimp, so even the regular ones are good value for your money.

    I hear the organic place has 25 cent coffee if you bring your own mug; I've got to look into that. :)

    Definitely love the vibe around there...wonder how much I'm gonna like walking there in the rain in the fall :S

    Cornerstone is really only for the residence-ers. No real value there for the students who commute up the hill every day, except for a few places to grab a nice bite to eat. The grocery store, etc. are all there with the live-ins in mind.

    I go there a lot. I like that Donairs place, pizza point, and Rennaisance

    Ironically, all the live-in shops are dying out...it's the students that are keeping that place alive

    ie. the meat shop
    ie. the drycleaners
    ie. the dollar store
    ie. the bike shop

    all gone

    coffee shop, shushi place, and the pizza place are all really busy because they fill the needs of the students...honourable mention to Azzi's and eyes in motion :)
