What's your summer job?

edited September 2007 in General
Hey!

I thought it would be fun to see the wacky things we are all doing this summer! I am working at a casino in Richmond (in the restaurant) and its been a pretty fun summer.

I actually really love jobs like this....low level, busy, in really unique settings that I am not normally exposed to. It makes me question my educational track.....

    Thats the one ;)

I wish I could say it was some shady casino I run out of my basement...I'd be raking it in instead of the 10$/hour I get now

I need to learn how to play poker. I could rake in some extra income that way :)

I need to download pokerstars or something and just learn the basics.

I went to Quebec for ten weeks where I did my Initial Assessment Period for the military which is the officer version of Basic Training. I got to learn all kinds of cool stuff and run around with a rifle for a few weeks which was cool as well as did lots of fun and amazing stuff, met cool people and got to go to montreal to party a few times and go to an amusement park.

Then from july till last week I was in Chilliwack working at the base where I was in change of getting their website built for them. Much easier, less yelling and more fun.

Interning at a marketing/PR firm. i design media kits to attract clients and assist clients with their advertising framework. i am under contract and i get 10% bonus for the amount of clients i can rake in.

all in all, very stressful. i was surprised at how much autonomy they allowed me seeing as i am just an intern. i've learned a lot though, but i can't wait till the contract ends in 2 weeks!!!!

man I miss summer work. I use to work at the PNE at the food stand when I was a student. Checking out hot girls and free food was definitely nice. Now I just work fulltime in the friggin office with a bunch of old people. They're nice though.

summer's pretty much over, but I've been doing project support work as co-op, but I'll be there until December because it's 8 months. yes, a big age gap, but everyone is friendly and willing to help :)

drove a recycling truck until the new driver i was training almost ran me over, fractured wrist and been in the office doing slave work since. Still 18/hr for photocopying is pretty easy so i cant complain. Plus my wrist still hurts so I cant do full days so I work 20 hours a week, and WCB pays for the other 20! lol

I did an internship at Microsoft...I already want to finish up here and go back :(

Living in another country is an interesting experience, but worth it. Even if it is only 2 hrs from home ;)
