admissions. really worried.

edited August 2007 in General
Hey everybody,

I was accepted into Fall 2007 Semester for Sciences conditionally. HOWEVER, after my provincial exam marks came out, my average is like, 3 % below the minimum GPA cutoff. Am I going to be rejected??? I'm sooo worried and I don't want to go to UVic (my second choice).

Thanks guys. Looking forward to talk to you all!

I doubt it, they seem to take anyone who is near the minimum requirements.

If you get rejected, do a year at Douglas, then transfer in. It's better to start out in college, anyway. Eases the transition. As much as I like SFU, I wish I'd spent more time at Douglas. Smaller classes, more intimate atmosphere, and WAY cheaper.

hmm. that's a bit more comforting.

i shall admit that sfu was not my first choice. but then there was this week when i had to go up to sfu a LOT for administrative stuff, and ppl were really nice there. and the school academically isn't bad either. so i just thought it would be a shame if i was SO close and didn't get in just when i was starting to really look forward to sfu and it's mountainness.

thanks guys! anymore comments, love to hear them!

I heard UVic is really nice. I hear there are bunnies that run around everywhere, lolol.

    :/

unfortunately, my average is only in the 70's range. that's what worries me, actually.

Well, how close is it to the 70% mark and what program did you apply for?

    hi jaydub,

i applied for sciences and i'm actually at a 72% average right now. i've been talking to some ppl and i've heard mixed answers. some were saying they might not bend the rules for me, but others were saying they usually only reject if it's a 5% drop or more. i really hope they let me in cuz i've been looking forward to school.

    thanks!

    baby e,

i haven't been to uvic campus yet. but from what i heard from a friend of mine, there are a LOT of bunnies. lol.

hmm sorry to say this but if you r 72%.. i dun think you can stand on sfu courses.. like midterms, assignments, finals and stuff... it's gonna be so higher level and so hard for you..

yikes.. i don't know abt that then.. =\ i mean that's going to be tough.. i rmb in my year my frd got accepted into arts at 75% and she got the notice pretty late in the summer.. i haven't been paying attn to the admission requirements since then but i do recommend asking around see what it's like for the previous years.. that should give you somewhat of an idea of what to expect...

it was 05 for my year.. and the admission for science was 80% back then.. also i strongly recommend talking to an SFU representative/advisor.. they'll give you the facts straight up.. and make sure you have a back up plan.. just in case things don't work out for you in SFU.. =)

    good luck!!

man you guys are getting shafted more and more
I was admitted in 04 to sciences, and at that time, they guaranteed me a spot if I finish with 75+

    bunny!

I kinda wish we had bunnies at sfu....might make it seem a little less glum at times.
