What classes are you taking for fall?

edited August 2007 in General
I have:

BISC 312 Environmental Toxicology I
BISC 304 Animal Ecology
PSYC 365 Health Psychology

I'm thinking about taking another class, but I don't know if I'll be able to handle it. I know its only 3 classes but I've always been a pretty social guy and I live out of town, so I find 3 to be a good balance...plus I'd rather get higher marks in the classes I do have then take too many and have my gpa suffer because of it. What's everyone else taking? Did you get all the classes you wanted?

Don't let him scare you, Math 151 is a very logical subject. As long as you put the time in to practice the methods, it is able to do well in that class. Regardless, I wouldn't suggest doing it if it isn't needed for your degree, as they have variations of calculus depending on which faculty you are in (yes, 151 is the hardest one).

Actually I'm not scared of math 151 at all. I can do limits and derivatives ok and i'll somehow get through curve sketching. As for MATH 152 and integrals...THAT is scary!

    BISC 202 - Genetics
Chem 111 - High School Chem Equivelent, w/ lab
STATS 201 - Stats for the Life Sciences
    Still deciding on a 4th.

Chem is going to be boring as hell. I could probably write that final exam right now, but I need the credit to do the higher level courses. :(

    IVT:
Math 152 is the same concepts as Math 151...except backwards

    Morro:
You could possibly do the chem course outside of SFU (like you said, you just need the credit). For example, if you could do it at a night school or a local college, it would be cheaper and probably easier. Have you decided on a major yet?

Majoring in Cellular stream Biology or in MBB.

That's a decent point, actually. Anyone know SFU's policy of taking courses outside the university, while still taking courses at SFU? If I could get through a couple of my lower level science credits at Douglas, while still going to SFU, that could be helpful and cheaper.

I could use a easy elective for fall...
  • edited July 2007
I'm taking Crim 220, Crim 230, Psyc 102, Span 102 (Yep, trying to finish all the stupid lower div req's for crim...cept span..that's for fun). Also hoping someone can help me out: It says in the calendar that I need to take a course from this list of generic courses (gives me a list of like english, history, phil, geography etc) but I got transfer credits for at least for of these courses from highschool. Those count right?

Hope you're taking Crim 220 with Lussier and 230 online, because if you're not, prepare for the ride of your life.

As for your question, I don't understand it. You have to take 12 credits of 300/400 level electives for upper division (they can be non-Crim electives, hence the need for the list), but you don't get credit from high school for those. Unless you did courses in college, you won't get transfer credit from high school for anything.

Pretty sure hes wondering about "breadth requirements" & high school AP courses.

I'm taking 220 and 230 in class ( I'm not a Distance ED person...I jsut get too lazy). The instructor for 220 isn't listed yet, says sessional, and 230 is listed as Verdun-Jones...same guy who wrote the text it seems.

As for my other issue, I've figured it out, but thanks for the help :D
