the laceration itself is about index finger length.. surprised me when i looked and my flesh was hanging off my leg.

Dude, these pictures are seriously too big for the site.

Also, if you have graphic content, it's best to put a link so that people can still view the thread without seeing something they don't want to...

And on that note... OUCH. How the heck did you do this to yourself? Didn't you say you were working at Costco?

first for everything , stitches + inch deep gap and 2inches wide.

well i've made a claim to WCB although i'm sure i don't get any money but it's a formality.

anyways what happened is i just replaced the box cutter blade since the old one was dull, and i didn't anticipate the fresh blade to cut so well, so i was cutting downwards to my right side, and it slid right through the box and into my leg.

i felt it obviously, looked at my shorts and it didn't even cut through my pants so i thought " must be ok " . pulled up my shorts to check and saw the flesh hanging out the side.

so yeah it's stitched now, 10 days off until my stitches are removed since it's on my quadricep muscle.

guess i'll be sitting on the computer with my leg elevated on my sub for these days.

ps. much <3 for the get better wishes.

Why wouldn't you get any WCB? Your work people may not want you to make a claim because their premium would go up but since it is a work related injury and you can't work, you should get some cash flow for the time that you are off. I used to work at a restaurant and I cut my hand on a broken glass (you could literally see inside my hand) and got stitches, so I had a cheque coming in from WCB every two weeks while I went to school.

Judging by the "freshness" of those pictures, I get the impression that the first thing that must have gone through your mind upon being slashed was not to get medical attention but to take a picture of the gash!

    Get well soon.

when i first got the cut i was shocked and i shouted for first aid and all, and they patched me up slightly right in the office aisle of costco where i was working.

then we had some genius co worker suggest i drive to hospital without thinking i could pass out due to blood loss. so co worker drove me there , i got my stitches and pictures as i was waiting for the doctor, and then co worker drove me back. the whole time i was hospitalized etc, i was still getting paid so it's all good.

kevin, so you're saying technically i should get the some days paid according to my ' regular ' schedule?

This would seem to be the quintessential worker's comp issue.

Ya dude, thats what WCB is for. If you are injured on the job and can no longer work for an indefinite amount of time because of it, you make a claim to WCB and they will be paying you for the amount of time you can't work. If you were full time, they give you (i think) 60% of what your pay was bi-weekly, but if your part then I think you get full pay. The longer you are out (which has to be corroborated by ur doctor) the longer WCB pays you, so I would either talk to your manager or call up WCB and see what they say.

i've already figured all that stuff out, sorry i didn't mention it haha.

it's filed and i've got my claim number, i just have to check how much i'm getting paid. not in a rush for money but why not if they're compensating right?

weird thing is last night i went to a party and i saw my co worker.. haha

well i distinctly remember the doctor telling the medical student (..great) that my cut will need about 3-4 stitches and it'll do fine.
