Hi Everyone: Nervous and Excited!

Hi guys, this Fall semester will be my first at Sfu, and I am so scared but excited at the same time ( more scared though)
Im 18,
HUGE Canucks FAN!
Ex-soccer player :)
and I'm from Abbotsford, B.C Its about an Hour away so I'll be looking for a nearby place as I missed the application for Residence deadline in March :( I reallly really wanted to live there for my first year. Can i still apply after the first semester or no?
My registration date is coming up this wednesday at 3:30pm, and Im still confused on the whole thing.
I will either stay here for the teacher program or transfer to UBC, but thats in the fifth year.
Im planning on being an English teacher and I cant wait till this september!

I'm actually from abbotsford too. In my first year I got a place with my friends, but we ended up partying most of the time rather than studying, so it wasn't the greatest idea. I've also driven from abbotsford for a couple of semesters but honestly, the traffic, the time it takes to commute, and the money that gets blown on repairs and gas makes it pointless. Unless maybe you have a good schedule that gets you around the traffic (which you won't in first year). This semester was the first time I've lived on residence and I gotta say I'm very glad with my decision. My classes are within walking distance (so I can wake up literally 20 minutes before class) and I get more done overall. Another option I would consider is Univercity (the new condos on the opposite side of campus)...the rent is a little bit higher but if you can afford it you can have your very own place in a nice community.
Anyways, if you have any questions or need opinions, just make a post in the "undergraduate lounge" and we'll help you out...cheers
it's always great to have some fresh faces around here :)
i remember i was pretty nervous entering into my first semester, but keep in mind that most people in your classes will have the jitters as well. i'm sure you will adjust to it just fine!
also, i think it's the 2nd or 3rd week of classes when they'll have clubs days. I highly recommend perusing through, there are a lot of different things you can be involved in and it's a great way to meet people.
As for residence on campus, i've heard from friends there are usually spaces left in residence each semester. Maybe you can email SFU housing (housing@sfu.ca) to inquire about applying a late application for rez?
or, like SR. said above, UniverCity is another option-- the places actually look pretty nice. definitely look into it.
oh wow, really. Well thanks, I will definetly be on the ball for that. I have applied, and payed the transaction fee, but i havent Been contacted..I dont know why?
