What have you always wanted to do?

edited June 2007 in General
I'm curious about all of your guys' personal goals/activities that you guys want to accomplish/do, either in the near or distant future, i.e. travel the world, write an autobiography, talk back to an authority figure, anything random!
Is there anything that you ONCE wanted to do, but you have now reconsidered?

For me, I want to go on a road trip down the west coast when my summer semester ends and I also want to become fluent in French. In the distant future, I want to travel with my trusty camera, taking photographs around the world.

A few years back my aspiration was to join Medecins Sans Frontier (Doctors without Borders) and to help those in need in third world countries...but since I'm not becoming a doctor...well...you know :)

hmm.. i actually wanted to become a coroner/forensic analyst.. i always believe that even though the bodies are dead.. each of them has a story to tell.. i want to be the one who tells their story.. and when someone asks what i do and who do i work with.. i'll say i work with dead people.. X) but.. i have a serious case of blood phobia so i sort of half gave up on it.. i'm still taking courses related to that though.. so to sate my curiousity.. =)

Education has completely corrputed my ambitions--to think that I'm going to university to pursue my ambitions!

The desire for whatever goals I have had in the past has already extinguished due to me always having to keep up with readings, working for much of the time as an undergraduate, and having to stay up late to finish essays and assignments.

Education has also taken a toll on my health. Though I haven't felt anything yet, I'm sure that when I'm older it'll all come back to me--something to look forward to

I don't have much of a social life, haven't travelled as far as I'd like, and am not able to form an image of what I'll look like or where I'll be, say, five or ten years from now

But hey, at least I'm a bit smarter than I otherwise would have been :shade:

    THANK YOU ACADEME!

I love traveling, so most of my goals are related to that!

I've just come back from Thailand, something I've wanted to do since I was 8 years old and a friend traveled there. I remember looking at the globe and being amazed at how far away it was. And then I learned about it as I got older and wanted to go there even more. My trip not only lived up to my hopes, but far exceeded them and made me really excited to do more traveling ASAP!

I am going to complete another goal this summer by taking a train from Vancouver to Halifax by myself. I'm excited to see Canada first-hand and take LOTS of pictures!

I've also always wanted to live and work in another country for a year. Right now I'm considering Ireland, though I've had friends who have done this in Australia and loved it.

In relation to these goals, I want to get my photos published in a travel book such as Lonely Planet. That would be VERY neat!

What a simple yet awesome question!

Now that I'm growing older I really just wanna travel. I've done everything there is to do around BC to the point that it's just getting repetitive. India, Italy, maybe Spain sound so intriguing at this point.

Other than that, my career goals are simple...be successful no matter which path I end up taking.

    DO IT!!!
if you do end up in Europe, you might as well give yourself enough time to visit as many countries as you can. Their train system makes it so easy to get around to different places on a whim.

and south africa would be really neat.

I've also wanted to see Israel, the Holy Land, even though I'm not religious by any means. But with all the conflict, and the recent bloody takeover of the Gaza Strip by the Hamas, it's obviously just too dangerous.

That sounds great, I like how many of us have this desire to see the world :) I think it would be such a rewarding experience, and the things you learn when you travel are things textbooks can't even teach :)

ps. this is really off-topic but i can't help but notice your avatar. are u a sopranos fan by any chance?? :D

I, myself would prefer to go back to Japan and South Korea to ride on the Shikasen trains. Hokkaido and Honshu are quite extravagent places.

Oh I've been to Japan! I stayed in a small town called Ikuno in Hyogo-ken, about 2 hours away from Osaka. I also made a trip out to Hiroshima and saw the original A-bomb target, the "Dome", which the Americans missed by only a few blocks, but miraculously it is STILL standing!!

I totally agree, Japan (i've yet to go to S. Korea) is an nice, and easily accessible country by train. I've never been on the Shikasen trains, I'll make a note to do that hopefully some day... :D
