Who else thinks it's a load of BS that Luongo didn't win a single NHL award? This guy is alot more valuable to the Canucks then Crosby is to the Pens and that's for sure. Crosby is surrounded by many good players and didn't deserve it.
Luongo put the Canucks on his back and led us to the secound round. The Eastern Voters are biased I guess since they don't see many Canucks games.

On another note Congratz to Canucks Head Coach Alain Vigneault on winning the Coach of the year award

    better luck next year?

    hes very valuable for us sure, but the pens wouldn't be in the playoffs without crosby either, nor would the devils w/o brodeur.. same argument can be made for many teams

    plus playoff play is not considered for the nhl awards

    I was disappointed that Louie did`nt win a single award. Not surprised though, these things are usually political. As far as the Vezina trophy goes for best goalie, if you are a NHL GM and need a goalie, do you trade for Luongo or Brodeur? I would say most GMs would trade for Louie.....I rest my case

    I wouldn't. Brodeur has a far better track record and in fact had a better year, which for his award is all that matters.

    Going forward one might trade for Louie over Brodeur but that would be largely because of age. Brodeur's closing in on some of Roy's records for christsakes, he's hardly a borderline goalie. So to me Brodeur deserved the Vezina trophy, but I think a good case could be made for Luongo deserving the Hart. He's definately more valuable to his team than Brodeur is, and although I haven't watched Pitsburg play much, I would think the same applies to him being more valuable than Crosby.

    seriously though, if the awards were based solely on playoff performance, yes Luongo would have walked away with at least the MVP, but the awards are unofficially decided as soon as the regular season comes to end...keep that in mind and you'll see why each player received the award they did.

    i'm not TOO hung up over it, although I am disappointed but that's because he has been my favourite player to watch since Bure (before his knee injury) so I'm a little biased.
    But with that being said, Luongo has a long career ahead of him and I'm confident he will be able to snatch a few awards in the future.
    I'm still amazed at how relatively consistent he was during the playoffs, I mean it was his first playoff run of his career, and he proved that he can take the pressure..

    I remember the Canucks' '94 playoff run. I was pretty young but I still remember Bure's amazing speed, the way he was able to break away from the opponent and turn those opportune moments into breakaways, his jersey fluttering behind him...
    Whoops, momentary lapse down Canucks' memory lane...
    so to sum it up, I sure do miss Bure! He was who I grew up watching!

    Now MORE IMPORTANTLY, imagine if Bure and Luongo were able to have kids. haha twisted, but they would be somewhere up there with superman don't ya think? ;)

    crosby is 19 and led the league in points.

    simple as that.
