Sleep is for the Weeeeak

edited June 2007 in General
Okay, apparently I'm still jet-lagged. I thought I'd beaten it good, but I guess not!

I was awake for about 15 hours yesterday, slept for 10 hours, and then woke up. I've been up since about noon today, and I'm not tired AT ALL right now (it's after 4am).

My plan right now is to stay up until tomorrow around 10pm so I'll actually be tired, then sleep for 10 hours or so to get back on schedule. I don't have anything to DO tomorrow, so I don't really need to be on top of my game.

My plan also involves an "early breakfast" (ahahah) of pancakes and BACON (which sucks in Thailand, so I'm tickled to eat it again). It's 6pm in Bangkok right now, so maybe that's why I'm hunnnngry?

I also think that staying up for 48 hours, then sleeping for 10 is the perfect combination for daily life. I may just try it for a few days until I find a job, and I'll let you know how that works! I would be so freaking productive if it does work...muahaha

Sleep is such a waste of time lol. I was up until 5 playing NHL 07 with some buddies (it's damn addicting) passed out at their condo and just got home right now...it's weird seeing the sun go down AND come up, really messes up your whole sleep schedule. I know I'm gonna be feeling the effects today, but luckily I have no classes so I'll just be reading/napping all day...definitely a weird feeling...I like your idea for the 48/10 split, let me know how it goes

Well so far so good on staying up all night. It's almost 11am now and it mostly feels like day to me. Of course it's 1am in Bangkok... so maybe I'm a little tired!

I didn't really notice the sun go down OR come up because it's so freaking grey and cloudy! BOO!

One weird thing that staying up all night does to you is you get confused over what is "yesterday"! Also, I've been doing lots more today than I'd intended: I got me a job for June and July (I even phoned the manager for a pay-raise!), and I emailed like 20 something people to catch up on commitments I've been ignoring while I was sitting in a hammock in Thailand. I also made soup! So far so good!

The best part about this is I'm dragging my boyfriend along for the ride and he gets more and more hilarious with each passing hour! Muahahaha!

Now I'm off to watch 2 hours worth of The Office that I missed while I was gone and enjoy some homemade french onion soup with CHEESE on it!

i wish i was him. It was so effin early that day.

My staying awake plan seemed to work! I slept from 7pm last night until just now and I'm feeling pretty good. Hungry enough to eat about 8 meals, but still pretty good.

And I totally sleep in public places. Provided I'm using my bag or something as a headrest. The only downside to doing so is you get marks and shit on your face from sleeping on stuff (like creases or red lines or whatever). When I went to UBC (for a few months right after highschool), I found the best public sleeping place ever. In the pool, if you go upstairs, there are seats there (like stairs with carpet on them). It's sunny there, and inside, and the sound of people swimming puts me out like a light. I've still considered going there for naps. haha

I just recently got my sleep cycle back on track. It was screwed up for about a year when i worked at a restaurant last summer -- i worked til about 12am and then everyone wanted to go out for drinks, so id be out until 3:30am and get home around 4am. Then I would sleep into the afternoon and repeat the whole cycle.

Being in school doesnt help either....I was most productive with writing papers at nite, so for the fall and spring terms i was up til about 6am and then i would sleep and then go to my afternoon lectures.

Since school has ended, i got myself a DAY job for the summer, so i have to be up at 7am, and i go to bed around midnight. It was sooo hard transitioning into that tho, cuz at like 2am in the beginning, my body would just wake me up like its saying, "You should be up right now."

ps yay for sleep! I love it! Especially when I sleep in late with my boyfriend. :)
