site update: talksfu v.2

edited July 2007 in General
It's been a while since the last update but here we are again. After careful consideration and fine tuning, we have now released talksfu v.2 This is the first official redesign of the site which includes many changes to make the site better. The most noticeable, of course, is the new look and feel. We feel that the red/white/grey colour scheme complements the SFU webpage nicely and gives the site a crisp, clean feel. Some other changes include:

*new talksfu logo
*faster loading pages
*less spam
*fully functional events calendar
*new forum sections (coming soon)

talksfu was created for students to help other students, and I think everyone is doing a great job so far. There have been many suggestions on improving talksfu, and we want to assure you that they are always considered and some of the changes (such as the calendar) are being implemented as we speak. Look forward to some new sections and more great discussions over the summer...and let us know what you think!

"holy shit" - that was my first reaction when i opened talksfu in a new tab, then left the room to let it load and came back and saw the new look, it looks good, i really like the red.

The only thing is I notice now that I cant click on the TalkSFU logo in the top left hand corner to get back to the homepage, thats how I always did it before and could you please enable that feature again? Thanks!

Done! Thanks for pointing that out, it's definitely a quick way to get back to the homepage. We also added an index on the left so you can easily jump between different areas of the site. If there are any other suggestions for things you would like to see on talksfu, please let us know in the Suggestions Section. We will be experimenting with banner images in the next few weeks, so there may be some more layout changes coming. Enjoy...

Looking great! It was a nice surprise when I came home.

My only suggestion would be to put a few more things in the sidebar on the left. Like maybe "Popular Threads" or "Just Posted" or "Users Currently Online" etc. I don't know what you have the ability to put there, but I thought I'd suggest it.

Loving all the changes! Everything works like a charm!

I have a request for RSS feeds for the next site update. That's if it is possible. Thanks!
