how fast do you drive?

edited April 2007 in General
just curious (got me thinking cause yesterday i drove past this over lady and her dog at a crosswalk at like 80+ in the middle of this s curve in my neighborhood, and she was pretty upset :x)

the car i drive is a piece of crap too, stock 99 protege, has like a dinky 1.6 or somethin, but i drive the heck out of it (since its manual too) so i push the rpms pretty high

i find myself driving prob a lil too fast (only got 1 ticket ever tho, clocked at 83 blah in an 60) tho i dont think im dangerous, i'll weave in and out of traffic sometimes, but i usually follow other fast cars (and i hav a bad habit of tailgating slow cars in the fast lane, these ppl with tunnel vision and drive speed limit on them..)

but ya, how fast do u usually drive (city? highway?) as fast as the car in front of u? weaving in and out of traffic? danger to society lol?

usually 10-15 over speed limit, dont weave though, just follow if cant make a normal pass

I hope this doesn't turn into a "I drive THIS fast all the time, because I'm cool, therefore my penis is bigger than yours, har har ^_^" kind of thread.

Anyhow, I find people in Vancouver are pretty lax drivers. In Toronto, where we have a lot more Highways, going 140kmph isn't out of the ordinary on the 401.

As for me...I go as fast as the bus takes me =)

What's the point of driving fast?

Consider a twenty minute commute from point A to point B in a mix of "stop and go" traffic and highway traffic. A 20km/h difference in overall speed isn't going to translate to a whole lot of difference in time. So what if you can do the twenty minute commute in eighteen minutes... Run the numbers and you'll see...

Slow the f*** down and you won't have to make threads like this.

    shoulda expected to get flamed

but its not that i drive reckless or get into any accidents, im far from a bad driver, there are some terrible drivers out there, im certainly not one of them

i think the speed limits are a little low here anyways, should b closer to US speeds

Well I usually drive at 70-80 km hr in the morning to work. But that's like at 5 am in the morning when there is like practically no traffic.

When it's during rush hour, I'll be lucky if I manage to do 60 km/hr.

During road trips, I drive around 140-145 km/hr on the I5. I didn't get a speeding ticket in the US yet.

Although recently a cop did give me a ticket for doing 60km/hr in a 50 zone in Surrey.

driving fast is fun :D but I only do it under safe conditions. I mean, I've gotten plenty of tickets over the year for speeding on the highway etc. but I've never ever gotten in any accident and I don't speed in residential areas... its all good ;)

I used to speed like crazy, but after gettin my license suspended, I now drive very safely, I won't go over 70 in the city.

i usually drive over 10-15 km in the city and when it gets busy... but during the night i drive a faster.. especially during the summer when i have my windows all rolled down.. love the speed and the wind.. X)

I used to drive fairly quickly, doing like 70/75 klicks all the time (and on highways, 10 or 20 over the limit), but after a while I kind of mellowed and I quit needing to go so damn fast all the time in the city.

Besides, 10 years ago traffic density wasn't quite as heavy as it is today and back then you could do 70 km/h on Oak street from 70th right up to about King Edward even in rush-hour conditions. Try that now!

Speaking of speeders what about all those jackasses that go flying by you in B-lot while you're walking. One of these days someone is gonna get nailed because they think its fun to do 50 in a parking lot

^When I was in first year, my friend and I were walking to the science building and this car suddenly speeds by this guy who was walking on B-lot. This guy decides to spit on this speeding car (mind you, it's not a nice car but still) b/c surely he was unhappy about the guy and his fast driving in the parking lot. The guy in the car gets out and makes the guy wipe off the spit and tells him to apologize :(.

That's hilarious, why would he even apologize? Don't do it unless you can back up your actions, that's common sense.

obviously the guy with spitting didn't have common sense. but more of common stupidity.
