Midterm Madness?

edited February 2007 in General
How are the midterms going so far?

Does anyone have any good study habits to share, or is it all caffeine induced late nights?

(isn't it a beautiful thing when you search for a comic about midterms on google images and the only one you find is from The Peak?... awwwwesome)

Ouch... I hate those 2 days in a row deals...

One thing that I've found that either calms me down or throws me into a panic, is be aware before the midterm what percentage the test is worth. I just wrote one this morning that I was stressing about... until I found out it was only worth 15%!

I think I did well, anyway. I was the first one to leave the lecture hall. That always weirds me out... like maybe I missed a page or something!

i know how you feel!! especially during finals when some courses give me 3 hours, and i leave at about 1 hr and half to two hours in...i feel guilty about not using up all my time, and at times, i feel obligated to stay... haha

as for midterms...i'm lucky that my exam schedules aren't crammed up together.

Oh jeez... That's scary! If I were you, I'd be deciding which I need to actually study for and which courses can just use a quick review. That's definitely a full plate!

i'm officially bummed out.. i just got back results of a midterm i really put effort on studying.. i didn't get a bad mark.. 80% is fine with me.. but it turns out the avg mark for a class of 200+ ppl was 80%.. so the prof has decided to curve it.. given that the marks are skewed..

i know i shouldn't be whining.. but i just feel like i'm not getting my part of the deal.. i studied hard for my exam and shoud be entitled to what i achieved.. it should be my performance that's judged not in comparison to others.. maybe it's because i've never been in a situation like this but anyway.. that just took out all the motivation for me to study.. =(

Yeah, I hate when professors curve the marks... What they should do is learn not to write crappy exams. It really is a lazy way to create an "average" class average.

aw, i know how you feel. that's what happened to me last semester. i got a B in a class where my percentage shouldve been an A- ..it's bull.

may i ask which class this is for?

    is it Math 157?

i dont see a problem with curving, its works both ways, ive been on both ends of it but on the whole it isnt a terrible thing

just gives good marks to students who did better relative to others
