IAT Joint Major/Minor Application

So I've been working on my CGPA to apply for a Joint Major with IAT. Recently, I noticed on the application page there was no minimum GPA anymore but it varies semester to semester. I emailed the IAT advisors and they said that the new requirement is a 3.0 CGPA for both a joint major and a minor which is a significant increase from what it was previously. I don't meet this requirement but I'm wondering if I should try and apply anyways since the page said it varies each semester. Does anyone have experience applying after the new CGPA requirements?
